People are complex, our cities are complex and certainly our world is complex. It is easy to become overwhelmed with the mission that God has given us when we begin to think that it’s up to us. This summer we will continue to serve with our nonprofits and love on our neighbors. We will also provide opportunities to hear from speakers about topics and issues that face the very people we seek to serve and love. Perhaps we will learn ways we can connect to them in a more loving and respectful way or discover that we are uniquely designed to make a kingdom impact through our occupations or with our gifts. Debra Potter Director of Community Outreach How to Use this Guide This summer,Community Outreach is offering opportunities for you to learn, serve and invest. To become informed about topics that matter to you, to find a way to serve throughout the summer, and to consider how God might be calling you to steward your gifts, time and prayers to raise up the next generation of leaders and impact our cities. Check out our class and seminar offerings that are scheduled throughout the summer. Serving opportunities are listed by date, and the city focus of each opportunity is highlighted. Many of our opportunities are family friendly so look for the family friendly icon next to the serving opportunity. At the end of the guide you will find information on ways to invest or give this summer. Our back to school campaign will kick off in July, and throughout the summer we’d like to encourage you to think about donating food to your local cooperatives who are helping with the high demand for food from families when kids are out of school. Lastly we’ve included some additional resources for you, a list of books for summer reading and a prayer guide and resource card which tells you where resources are available to help meet critical needs for someone struggling financially. We hope you’ll find this guide a great tool for you to loving your neighbor, and impacting the city in which you live, work and play. In the cities where you live, work and play and through our nonprofits.
