Maybe you sense there’s more “underneath”? Proverbs 20:5 - The purpose in a man’s heart is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out. How do we draw out understanding when others are in the midst of struggles and issues? This workshop will model skills and questions that, with the Spirit’s help, can reveal the underlying issue or concern. This is the “drawing out” process that helps lead to understanding. DISASTER RELIEF TRAINING OFFERED BY THE SALVATION ARMY Lanita Loyd Salvation Army SATURDAY, JULY 20 FROM 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM Uptown Auditorium This course offers an overview of The Salvation Army’s mission, the services it provides during a disaster, and prepares participants for their first disaster assignment, describing everything from packing to travel to self-care. This is the gateway course to The Salvation Army’s disaster training program, is required for all disaster workers, and is a prerequisite for most other Salvation Army disaster training courses. TRAUMA AND THE BRAIN Mel Meyer Out of Darkness TUESDAY, JUNE 11 FROM 6:30 – 8:00 PM The Shed This session will help you be better equipped to understand complex trauma and its impact on the brain and body. Being able to recognize the impacts of trauma empowers us to show greater empathy to people in crisis, understand God’s heart towards suffering and the healing process, and provide informed responses to the needs of individuals in our churches and communities.
